Maruti's sales to grow 18-20 pc in Fiscal year 2010

Country's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki hopes that its sales growth would be 18-20 per cent in the fiscal year 2010. The company have seen car sales jumped to 27 per cent during the first eight month till November and is expected to be good in December as well. After the downswing in the last year, car sales have increased since January this year. The sector has been double-digit growth in the five months ago reference by festival demands and turn-on capacity. Shashank Srivastava, the company's chief general manager of marketing, told reporters that the new "Maruti Eeco" to be introduced as a Multipurpose vehicle segment. The fourth quarter growth numbers no look like so great as the higher base impact will bring from in January.

Car sales should increase by 18-20 per cent for the fiscal year, he said. Against to March 2009, Maruti sales rose 1.5 percent to 722,144 units. The company will launch Maruti Versa to replace Van "Maruti Eeco" in January next year. It will come with five and seven seater capacity for passengers. Maruti believes its early sales of 40,000 units a year. While new van price has yet to be decided. Srivastava said, Maruti Eeco will be priced below the Maruti Versa van, Which sells starting from Rs. 350,000($7,500) for a base model. Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo will also be unveiled in the upcoming year.
