Maruti Suzuki financial results (Q2 – FY2010-11)

The Board of Directors of Maruti Suzuki India Limited approved the financial results for the second quarter of 2010-11 (July - September 2010) here today.

The Company registered Net Sales (net of excise) of Rs 89,371 million during the second quarter of 2010-11, a growth of 26.8 per cent over the same period last year. This marked a growth of 11 per cent over Net Sales in the first quarter of this fiscal (April-June 2010)

Net Profit during the second quarter of 2010-11 was Rs 5,982 million, up 5 per cent over the same period last year. This was a growth of 28.5 per cent over the first quarter (April- June 2010).

Maruti Suzuki

During the Quarter (July-Sept 2010), the domestic auto industry continued to witness strong volume growth. The Company achieved its highest ever domestic sales in a quarter at 2,77,936 units, a growth of 32.9 per cent over the same period last year.

Unit Sales

During the Quarter, the Company launched Alto K10, and factory-fitted CNG versions of Alto, Estilo, WagonR, Eeco and SX4. An automatic version of A-star was also launched.

The Company’s volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 30 per cent, while in the A3 segment, sales volume grew by 29.2 per cent, compared to sales in July-September 2009.

Sales in C segment, comprising Omni and Eeco, grew 87.4 per cent.

At the end of the Quarter, sales network stood at 860 outlets, covering 598 cities (end Mar’10: 802 outlets, 555 cities).

Service network stood at 2,819 workshops, covering 1,354 cities. (end Mar’10: 2,740 workshops, 1,335 cities)

Maruti Suzuki expansion plans, the company is going to add two new cars by the end of this current calender year that includes Maruti Kizashi and Maruti Cervo. Besides, Maruti will also open 1500 service station by 2015.

Maruti Suzuki Expansion plans for India

Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd., one of the top most auto manufacturer brands, is all set to expand their auto market by the introducing wide range of new cars in the Indian auto market. According to some news reports, the company is going to launch two new cars- Maruti Kizashi and Maruti Cervo by the end of this current calender year. The new Maruti Cervo is one other concept car which is all set to pass Maruti Wagon R and Alto.

Maruti KizashiThe new entry-level small wonder is even more attractive then Tata Nano. It would be available with cheapest price range of Rs. 1.5 to 2 lacs and world's cheapest car, Nano price range is around 1.3 lacs. On the other hand, most awaited sports sedan Maruti Kizashi is also going to be hits the Indian raods by the 2010-end. The Maruti Kizashi is already selling in the US and Japanese market and getting wonderful response at there. It might be launched with the affordable price range of around Rs. 10 to 12 lacs. The mid-size car, Maruti Kizashi, was showcased for the first time at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show than at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. In addition to this, the concept third Kizashi was introduced at the 2008 New York auto show.

Maruti Cervo
After showcasing the Maruti Kizashi at different Auto Shows across the world, it was launched commercially in Japan and the US in October 2009 and December 2009 respectively. Maruti Suzuki has already shown at the mega auto event, Delhi Auto expo 2010. It might get tough competition with Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Tata Manza and more.

Maruti Ritz reaches One lakh sales mark

Maruti Ritz, which had created history by achieving the fastest ever 50,000 sales, added yet another feather in its cap by clocking the fastest ever sales of 100,000 units today in A-2 premium segment. The car which was launched in May 2009 has received an incredible response from the very first day of its launch. At its launch, the Ritz not only created a flutter in the competitive 'A-2 premium' segment, it was immediately hot-listed by the media and industry. Many accolades followed (please see box for details), and the super-car won the Car-of-the-Year in India and abroad, for its path-breaking looks and styling, superior safety features and its ability to balance a dynamic driving experience with a comfortable ride, bold styling and excellent road handling. Ritz delivers superb fuel efficiency of 17.7 kmpl in petrol and 21.1 kmpl in diesel.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales), said, “We are overwhelmed by the terrific response given by our customers to the Maruti Suzuki Ritz. The Ritz was targeted at our discerning customers who, while valuing the traditional Maruti Suzuki attributes of fuel efficiency, reliability and performance, also desired contemporary looks and attitude in the vehicle. The fastest 1 lakh sales mark is customers’ endorsement to all these attributes Ritz stands for.” The Ritz, developed on the successful Swift platform and positioned at the premium-end of the compact car market, has been specifically designed for India. Maruti Suzuki engineers worked with the Suzuki design team in Japan to co-design the car and carry out India-specific changes such as superior transmission, improved suspension and better ground clearance.

Maruti Ritz

The Maruti Ritz was also India’s 1st BS IV complaint car to be launched in the passenger car segment. The Ritz is available in two power train options: 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K Series petrol engine with maximum power of 85 PS and the highly successful 1.3-litre, DDiS diesel unit that delivers a maximum power of 75 PS. The Ritz comes with Drive-by-wire technology in both petrol and diesel variants. This along with the 32-bit Engine Management System provides faster signal processing and quick response.“The Ritz reaffirms our commitment to offer world class products to the Indian market. Since a majority of our customers are young who would prefer nothing but the very best in technology and styling, we would continue to feed the market with world class products” added Mr. Pareek. Maruti Suzuki has also started exporting Ritz to Indonesia.

Maruti to add 1500 service points by 2015

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to expand their service points by the adding more 1500 new service stations by next five years. While, the company will also spread out their production capacity to over 17 lakh units of cars per year. Maruti Suzuki currently has 2,784 service stations and next five years will see over 4,200 service points across the country, a increase of more than 50 per cent. Besides, it is believed to result in additional employment of about 22,000 people by the service network operators. Pankaj Narula, Executive Officer (Service) of Maruti Suzuki India(MSI), said,” We expect service load at our network multiply manifold, as Maruti Suzuki scales up capacity to 1.7 million units in coming years."



The company's expansion plan, MSI will open the new outlets in over 1300 cities and small towns with an target to provide facility for every 25 km across the country. The existing service networks of the company handles a burden of 11.8 lah cars every month and might be expected it to increase to 14.5-15.0 lakh units of cars by 2015. The company is currently selling most popular cars in India that includes Maruti A-Star, Alto, Eeco, Grand Vitara, Omni, Ritz, Swift Dzire, Swift, SX4, Wagon R and Zen Estilo.


MSI had already announced to invest about Rs. 1,925 crore to set up a third manufacture plant with an installed capacity of 2.5 lakh units in the Maneser plant. The company is presently spending Rs. 1,700 crore on a second plant at Manesar, which is having capacity of 2.5 lakh units of cars yearly. Maruti Swift: another makeover next year

Maruti Swift, India's one of the best selling premium hatchback by the country's major auto market leader, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Maruti Cervo coming to India by this year end

Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Maruti Kizashi coming to India

India's major auto market leader, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to launch the new most awaited sports sedan Maruti Kizashi in India by 2011. The Maruti Kizashi is already selling in the US and Japanese market and getting wonderful response at there. It might be launched with the affordable price range of around Rs. 10 to 12 lacs. The mid-size car, Maruti Kizashi, was showcased for the first time at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show than at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Maruti plans to open new outlets in India

The country's major auto market leader, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is mulling over to expand their service network with the opening more than 4200 outlets from 2,700 across the country. Maruti is targeting to increase its sales more than 2 million cars by the year 2015. The company is presently selling ten most popular cars in India including WagonR, Alto, Eeco, SX4, Ritz, Omni, Swift, Swift Dzire, Zen Estilo and A-Star. Pankaj Narula, executive officer, (service) Maruti Suzuki, commented that the company’s network will be extended to the newer cities, so that, it can be taken from the present 1,300 cities to more than 2,000 cities in the coming five years.

Maruti Suzuki September sales at 1,08,006 nos.

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,08,006 vehicles in September 2010. This includes 12,858 units for export. This is the highest ever Total monthly sales by the company. Previous highest was 1,04,971 units in August 2010. The company had sold a total of 83,306 vehicles in September 2009. September 2010 is also the fourth time that company's monthly sales crossed 1 lakh mark. With these record numbers, the company crossed half a million sales mark in the first six months of a fiscal.




Maruti Suzuki's volume in the domestic market grew by 32.9 per cent. In the A2 segment, sales grew by 31.3 per cent while in A3 segment sales were 43.2 per cent higher, as compared to sales in September 2009. The sales growth in the C segment was 66.6 per cent over September 2009. The sales growth in B segment was 17.7 percent over September 2009.




The company has recently re-launched many improved versions of the company's most popular cars in India like Maruti Swift Special Edition, Maruti Alto K10, Maruti A-Star AT, Maruti Eeco charge and Maruti SX4 Hybrid. Apart from that launch, Indian car lovers will see the new Maruti cars in India that includes Maruti Kizashi and Maruti Cervo.
