Maruti India is going through hard time as it faces a downfall in the revenue due to the strike held at one of its manufacturing unit located at Manesar. The strike began on Saturday and and still its going on. In the mean time Management of Maruti Plant at Manesar plant has sensed that due to this strike revenue of Maruti India is strike badly as Maruti faces a delay in the delivery of the Maruti deisel cars in India. Because of this four day strike Maruti has registered a revenue loss of Rs 150 crore and a production loss of around 1900 units.

The Chairperson of Maruti Manesar plant, Harayana, RC Bhargava reported that if the strike continues it is possible that Maruti India's production would hit and which will cause in the a decrease in the sales and also the delivery of Maruti diesel cars in India get affected. In addition to this chairperson Bhargava said that dealers of Maruti in India have enough stock of petrol cars, but if the strike continues for a longer period then surely there would a shortage of diesel cars. It is worth to mention that Maruti's Manesar plant posses a capacity of producing 1200 units per day but because of this strike there is a loss of around 650 units per day mainly of diesel cars. The production loss has reached a mamoth figure of 1900 units during the period of four days of strike.

Mayank Pareek, Managing Executive Officer- Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India said that Egypt is an important auto market for the company and the political unrest will hamper the sales. Maruti Suzuki India in the last financial year shipped 1.47 lakh car models. For the Egypt auto market Maruti sells its hatchback Maruti Alto majorly. However, the Indian auto giant does not operate directly in Egypt but it has tied up with a sole distributor who is responsible for its sales.

MSI is facing issues in exports because of the decline in the demand for its car models mainly in the European auto markets. In January 2011, Maruti's exports saw a decline of 36 per cent by rolling out 9321. In January 2010 the company exported 14,562 car models. In the present financial year the total export saw a decrement by 2.9 per cent from April to January which is 1,16,636 car models when compared with same time last year which was 1,20,097 car models.

Maruti Suzuki car prices increased upto Rs. 8000

With increasing input costs pressures, the leading automobile manufacturer in India, Maruti Suzuki has increased its car prices of its vehicles upto Rs. 8,000. for all its models, except the newly launched hatchback, Maruti Alto K10. Commenting on the hike in prices by Maruti Suzuki, Mayank Pareek, managing executive officer(Marketing and Sales) stated that they have increased the car prices on 17 January ranging between 0.5 percent to 2.2 percent. Except Maruti Alto K10, the company would increase its prices of its entire model line up between Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 8000.

Earlier, the auto-major, Maruti Suzuki declared that they would increase the prices in January, 2011 due to rising input costs and maintaining the price level was unbearable for them. Mr. Pareek added that inflation has affected the production costs adversely, the price of natural rubber which used to be Rs. 100 per kg has gone up by Rs. 200 per kg. Copper prices have also increased by 12-15 percent and similarly prices of steel have also increased.

Not only Maruti many other automajors have increased their prices due to hike in production costs. Volkswagen has also increased its prices for Volkswagen Vento 2.9 percent with effect from 1st January this year. Mr. Neeraj Garg, the Member of Board of Director for Passenger Car Section for Volkswagen stated that the company was facing the issue of hike in production inputs and they have been trying to maintain the price level since long. Now, the conditions have become unbearable for Volkswagen, they have planned to increase the car prices for Volkswagen Vento by 2.9 percent.

Already the fuel prices are increasing rapidly and the hike in car prices by the major automotive brands would be a big worry for the car buyers. The sedan is originally priced at Rs 18 lakh but for the Indian auto market it may vary upto Rs 2 lakh.

Mayank Pareek, the Managing Executive Officer in Maruti Suzuki India said that Maruti Kizashi is a brand new attempt from the Indian auto company. Maruti believes that the luxury car segment A4 and A5 will grow. Mr Pareek went on explaining that currently the market segment share is less but witnessing the growth in the economy it is expected to grow leaps and bounds. He also stated that in the coming 5 to 7 years time the given volume will increase and also to maintain the leadership in the Indian auto market, the company is keen to hit the bulls eye in the luxury car segment.

Maruti Suzuki India at present owns around 50 per cent of the share in India by rolling out 1.87 million cars in 2010.

India's leading newspaper declared, Maruti Suzuki as India's most trusted brands in Automobile sector.

From past eleven years Maruti Susuki has been awarded for it's highest recognition by the costumers, it ranked it highest in costumer service index study.

In India for the first time, the car manufacturer has won the award for selling the maximum number of small car in the calender year. Maruti Suzuki Alto is going ahead of VW Golf (Germany) Fiat Uno in terms of number of units sold in 2010.

Marurti Suzuki managed to sell 3 lakh units of Maruti Alto, a 25% increase from last year's figure, this is the reason why Maruti launched Alto K10 in mid 2010.

After talking to the Executive officer of Maruti Susuki, Mr Rao it has been figured out that Maruti Alto K10 is the major reason behind the outstanding growth by the company in 2010.

Alto was first launched in India in 2006 with the capacity of 800cc engine. Alto offers mileage of 14.6 kmpl in city and 18.9 kmpl on highways. In a new version of Alto, one can expect a mileage of 15 kmpl in city and 20.2 kmpl on highways.

Popular Cars of this year that keep the competitors on their toes are Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i10 and Tata Nano.

Maruti Suzuki financial results (Q2 – FY2010-11)

The Board of Directors of Maruti Suzuki India Limited approved the financial results for the second quarter of 2010-11 (July - September 2010) here today.

The Company registered Net Sales (net of excise) of Rs 89,371 million during the second quarter of 2010-11, a growth of 26.8 per cent over the same period last year. This marked a growth of 11 per cent over Net Sales in the first quarter of this fiscal (April-June 2010)

Net Profit during the second quarter of 2010-11 was Rs 5,982 million, up 5 per cent over the same period last year. This was a growth of 28.5 per cent over the first quarter (April- June 2010).

During the Quarter (July-Sept 2010), the domestic auto industry continued to witness strong volume growth. The Company achieved its highest ever domestic sales in a quarter at 2,77,936 units, a growth of 32.9 per cent over the same period last year.

Unit Sales

During the Quarter, the Company launched Alto K10, and factory-fitted CNG versions of Alto, Estilo, WagonR, Eeco and SX4. An automatic version of A-star was also launched.

The Company’s volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 30 per cent, while in the A3 segment, sales volume grew by 29.2 per cent, compared to sales in July-September 2009.

Sales in C segment, comprising Omni and Eeco, grew 87.4 per cent.

At the end of the Quarter, sales network stood at 860 outlets, covering 598 cities (end Mar’10: 802 outlets, 555 cities).

Service network stood at 2,819 workshops, covering 1,354 cities. (end Mar’10: 2,740 workshops, 1,335 cities)

Maruti Suzuki expansion plans, the company is going to add two new cars by the end of this current calender year that includes Maruti Kizashi and Maruti Cervo. Besides, Maruti will also open 1500 service station by 2015.

Maruti to add 1500 service points by 2015

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to expand their service points by the adding more 1500 new service stations by next five years. While, the company will also spread out their production capacity to over 17 lakh units of cars per year. Maruti Suzuki currently has 2,784 service stations and next five years will see over 4,200 service points across the country, a increase of more than 50 per cent. Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,08,006 vehicles in September 2010. This includes 12,858 units for export. This is the highest ever Total monthly sales by the company. Previous highest was 1,04,971 units in August 2010. The company had sold a total of 83,306 vehicles in September 2009. September 2010 is also the fourth time that company's monthly sales crossed 1 lakh mark. With these record numbers, the company crossed half a million sales mark in the first six months of a fiscal.

Maruti Suzuki's volume in the domestic market grew by 32.9 per cent. In the A2 segment, sales grew by 31.3 per cent while in A3 segment sales were 43.2 per cent higher, as compared to sales in September 2009. The sales growth in the C segment was 66.6 per cent over September 2009. The sales growth in B segment was 17.7 percent over September 2009.

India's car market leader Maruti Suzuki today handed over first lot of Two Maruti Suzuki SX4 Hybrid cars and One 'Eeco Charge' to Mr Arvinder Singh Lovely, Hon'ble Minister of Transport for NCT Delhi. The vehicles intended for use at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, were handed over by Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, in the city. Maruti Suzuki has made ready a lot of 14 future technology vehicles for the use at Commonwealth Games. These include 10 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Hybrid Cars and 4 Maruti Suzuki 'Eeco Charge' vehicles. The balance vehicles will be handed over to the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee for use by the Officials during the Commonwealth Games. On the occasion Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi said, "I am happy that engineers at Maruti Suzuki have developed these future technology vehicles. This project has helped our engineers to increase their knowledge and enhance their R and D capability. We are grateful to the Government for their leadership to promote green technology in automobiles. Maruti Suzuki has developed the SX4 Hybrid vehicles and 'Eeco Charge' concept vehicles as a part of the demonstration fleet. The demonstration of the fleet of SX4 Hybrids and 'Eeco Charge' vehicles at the Commonwealth Games 2010, is in line with the ambitious NHPP and MNRE program outline. SX4 Hybrid and 'Eeco Charge' concept development has been taken up by Maruti Suzuki as a part of the Government initiated and SIAM coordinated NHPP and MNRE National Hybrid Propulsion Program (NHPP) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE)'s High Energy Density Battery Development Program.

The development of Hybrid and Electric vehicles is one of the exciting initiatives undertaken by Maruti Suzuki to enhance its R and D capabilities and gear itself for greener technologies. Through this exercise Maruti Suzuki is keen to expand its learning's on green technologies that put minimal stress on non-renewable energy. Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest auto manufacturer, has recorded sales of over 20,000 units of Maruti's newly entrant Alto K10 into the compact car segment in the least 40 days in the Indian auto market. Shashank Srivastava, chief general manager, Maruti Suzuki India was quoted saying that they have already sold more than 20,000 units of Alto K10. No other model in the country has received such a response within 40-odd days since its launch. Srivastava further said that Maruti’s Alto K10 is an aspirational car at the entry-level.

In larger cities, entry level cars do not find many takers. But K10 with its combination of features and the price at which they are offered has struck a chord with customers across cities. Before Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki had registered record sales for its model Ritz. The Ritz was launched in May 2009 and it sold 15,000 units within the first two months of its introduction. Annual sales for the car stood at 67,000 units. Another model of Maruti, Maruti Swift was launched in the year 2005. The Swift sold only 4,000 units in the initial months of its launch. The company now sell 11,000 to 12,000 units a month. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the new cheapest car, Maruti Cervo soon in India. Maruti to open fourth plant in India by 2013

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is intending to set-up its 4th manufacturing facility in India by 2013. The new plant will be opened at the Maruti's Manesar facility. Presently, the company has two manufacturing plant in the Indian auto market - at Manesar and Gurgaon. The company is working on its expansion plans in its domestic market as it is planning to set-up the fourth plant while the third plant is still under construction at Manesar.

The plans for the fourth plant of the company are at very initial stage as of now and the company is working on a project survey report regarding this plant. Currently, the total annual manufacturing capacity of the company is about 10 lakh units in India that will be increased to 12.5 lakh units as soon as its third plant goes operational. Going on the same line, the fourth plant will add another 2.5 lakh units in the company's annual production capacity and will take it to 15 lakh units.

According to a statement given by company's chairman R.C. Bhargav, said, the second plant of the company at Manesar is expected to be operational in 2011 and thus the company will obviously look for the third plant. After launching new manufacturing plant in the country, the company will recover the mounting waiting periods of some of its popular cars in the like Maruti Swift Dzire and many more in the Indian auto market.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s car market leader, sold a total of 104,791 vehicles in August 2010, growing 23.6 per cent in the month. This includes exports of 12,117 units. This is the highest ever monthly sales recorded by the company. The company had sold a total of 84,808 vehicles in August 2009. Maruti Suzuki’s volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 25.7 per cent and in the A3 segment the sales volume grew by 34 per cent during the month as compared to sales in August 2009. The Board of Directors of Maruti Suzuki India Limited approved the financial results for the first quarter of 2010-11 (April-June 2010). The Company registered Net Sales of Rs 80,507 million during the first quarter of 2010-11, a growth of 27 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. Net Profit during the quarter was Rs 4,654 million, against Rs 5,835 million during the same period of the last fiscal year. The drop in Net Profit is due to higher commodity prices, increase in royalty and lower 'other income'. In addition, income from exports to Europe fell due to weakening of the Euro. During the quarter, the Company posted total sales of 283,324 units, representing 25 per cent growth. This included export of 40,437 units, a 38 per cent growth over the same period of the last fiscal.

The Company's domestic sales volume grew by 23 per cent to 242,887 units The Company launched a new WagonR (a full model change) during the quarter. Maruti Suzuki's volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 16.2 per cent during the quarter, while in the C segment, sales volume grew by 50.8 per cent, aided by the success of Eeco. The Company's sales volume in the A3 segment grew by 45.2 per cent, compared to sales in April-June 2009. During the quarter the Company further strengthened its network. Maruti Suzuki India Limited, passenger car manufacturer, reported a growth in sales of 17.3 percent to 88,091 units from 75,109 vehicles in the same month of previous year. The exports market sales of the company has stood at 14.6 percent to 15,279 units. Maruti Suzuki’s volume in the domestic A3 segment including Maruti SX4 and Maruti Swift Dzire grew by 32.5 per cent while sales of models in its A2 segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star
rose by 11.4 per cent to 51,418 units during the month as compared to sales in June 2009. The sales growth in the C segment was 43.9 per cent over June 2009. The company was closed for 6 days during June 2010 (as also in June 2009) for a planned maintenance shutdown of the facilities.

MSIL has registered a domestic market increased in sales of 17.87 percent from 61773 in 2009 same month to 72812 units in the same period of 2010. Maruti 800 dropped by 14.27 to 2,090 units from 2,438 units in June 2009, the statement said. The company total passenger car sales went up 16.11 percent at 71,503 units in June 2010 compared with 61,583 units in the same month in 2009. Maruti Suzuki is also planning to launch its new cheapest car, Maruti Cervo soon in India, which will be available price tag of around Rs. 1.5 to 2 lakh. India's largest auto manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has set a recorded sales growth by 27.9 percent to 102,175 units from 79,872 vehicles it sold in the same period of last year. This is the first time that the car manufacturer has ever sold over 1 lakh units mark in a month, its last highest monthly sale figure being 96,650 units in February 2010. The company has maintained to get a cumulative sales figure of 1,02,175 units including sales in both international and domestic markets.
